Want to write the perfect cover letter?

But don't have time to read through a 300-page book first?

Then "Get It Done" is for you. Here's why it's been a best-seller for six years in a row

1) It's fast - The whole book takes about 30 minutes to read.

2) It's to the point - It breaks the cover letter down to 12 parts and gives you a precise template to complete for every single step.

3) It works - I developed this system while serving as a Recruiter for Teach For America. I've since taught it to MBAs as a Career Coach at the University of Michigan, leading to job offers from Apple, GE, Microsoft, , LinkedIn, and Google. And the system has even been featured in U.S. News & World Report http//money.usnews.com/money/careers/articles/2015/01/21/5-cover-letter-cliches-that-make-employers-cringe

So get your cover letter done today. And then get ready to land an awesome job next!

What job seekers are saying...

"If you're anything like me, you detest writing cover letters. This is a short, concise book that will quickly spell out the steps you need to take to write a solid, well-thought out cover letter."
-Rebecca

"This book was a a major benefit to my post-grad job search. I was struggling to portray some past experience to potential recruiters. I was hardly getting noticed and unable to land interviews; I was just another piece of paper in the deck. Jeremy's beneficial insight to the cover letter was against my traditional understanding. His direct nature and step by step guidance proved to be beneficial in my search. I was able to go through the book and develop a brand new cover letter from scratch in less than an hour. Given the price of the book and the time it takes to go through, there is absolutely no excuse why you shouldn't buy it right now and start fresh in conveying your background to your next employer."
-LJ

"If you, like me, hate writing cover letters, then this book is for you. Before reading this book, I was not even using cover letters because I thought they didn't matter, and I didn't know what to say. I just sent as many resumes as possible to as many job postings as possible.

This book changed my life. It convinced me, no doubt one of the most shameless no-cover-letter resume spammers out there, to stop and write a cover letter. Plus Schifeling lays out a series of clear quick steps that make it easy and anxiety free."
-Jane E Nevins

This short book a number of good ideas. My favorite advice is how to open the cover letter. The author gives several opening sentences that specific and good for generating your own. I also thought including a table in the cover letter was clever, different, and a good way to show the information. I found this book useful!

This is a short, no frills book designed to be read as the steps are carried out. The templates and suggestions provided are simple and direct. While there are doubtless books showing how to craft a more polished cover letter, for those of us who suffer from analysis paralysis this method is a blessing.
The whole article tells you why and how to read a cover letter in a single stream.

From the book info, you can know how short it is.

The tips I found helpful are to
1. Start your cover letter with a personalized, relevant, eye-catching opening to separate you from others.
2. Make a one (job qualifications) by one (your experience to justify your qualifications) table in your cl.

The whole article provided one full cover letter sample.

Good luck on nailing down a satisfied job!
If you're anything like me, you detest writing cover letters. This is a short, concise book that will quickly spell out the steps you need to take to write a solid, well-thought out cover letter. I'm still not looking forward to writing cover letters, but at least now I have a game plan to do so. I highly recommend this book!
This was a short book with great advice. I've got my cover letter ready to go and hopefully it will open the door for an interview. This book takes you step by step on how to write the different sections of the letter and shows you what a sample of each one looks like. At the end you have the "How to" and a full "Sample view" of a letter. Recommend it to anyone that is applying for jobs.
I am in the process of seeking a job, and haven't had much luck with it even after submitting several applications. So I thought you know what I need to do something differently.

So I got this book, and yes, most of the advices from the book is quite different from what I am used to or what the career center at my old school suggested.

1. I was always taught to be very straight forward from the first sentence tell them what you are applying. The book does make a good point everyone else is doing the same exact thing, and you letter has just become one of the million. So he offered some good alternatives.

2. The structure/format - I have always had trouble trying to keep it short and concise. Not that I am TAHT qualified, but I just wanted to make sure that I hit all the major requirements. He offered a good way to present these information that are easier to read for the hiring managers.

I gave it a four stars because I have just finished the letter, and haven't sent it out yet. I will update soon, and hopefully it's a good outcome!
This short "about.com article" transformed into a book has some useful tidbits of information mixed with some advice and techniques that are not really relevant cross industry.

I think the writer did write from personal experience and wrote some useful techniques that seemed to be targeted at specific jobs but the whole thing seemed rushed and lacking information that I was looking for.

After reading the book i barely felt any more confident in my ability to write a cover letter and it probably took me less than 60 minutes to read. It's somewhat like a novelty instructional pamphlet you might find in a college bookstore in my opinion than an actual piece of literature.

I'd have like to seen a lot more evidence of research in this book, and understanding of the field and subject area.

I was looking for something above and beyond what randomly surfing the web would have given me, and despite being sold out of the bookstore I feel as though I paid $4 for an article.
